Apple Event September Rumours and Leaks

We are drawing closer and closer to September, which means that another Apple Event is just around the corner. And according to many rumours and leaks, there is quite a lot to look forward to. Join us as we dive into some of these rumours and the devices you can expect to be revealed in this year’s Apple Event.

When is the next Apple Event?

Apple plans to hold its first event of the last quarter on Wednesday the 7th of September. No specific time is confirmed just yet, but it is certain that this event will focus on Apple’s new iPhones and Watch Series.

The Next iPhone

Following Apple’s usual trend of announcing new iPhones in the last quarter of the year, we are guaranteed to see the new iPhone 14 models be announced in the next Apple Event. And according to various rumours and leaks, there is quite a lot to look forward to.

Starting with a bit of a switch-up when it comes to the optional models. Over the last few years, we have seen Apple go with four different models. Those being the regular version, a mini model, and a pro and pro max. But this year, it seems we will be saying goodbye to the mini model. Due to underperforming sales of the mini model, this version of the phone is being side-lined in favour of a new iPhone 14 Max model.

The iPhone 14 Max is set to contain many of the same features and specifications as the normal iPhone 14, but with a larger frame. The iPhone 14 Max is rumoured to be around 6.7 inches in size compared to the iPhone 14’s 6.1 inches.

Compared to the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max models are set to only receive very few changes. But the pro models are set to receive some rather massive improvements. Including the removal of that pesky notch, a variety of camera improvements like 48MP cameras and 8k video recording, a new A16 Chip, a titanium frame rather than stainless steel, and an improved refresh rate. These are just some of the additions that are on the card for the iPhone 14 Pro models, which are also set to be 6.1 inches (pro) and 6.7 inches (pro max) in size.

Because of the great number of changes to the pro models compared to normal models, we are also set to see some increases when it comes to the price. With the iPhone 14 set to stay at the normal £779/$799 and the iPhone 14 Max expected to be £879/$899. And the iPhone 14 Pro is rumoured to rise to £1079/$1099 and the Pro Max to £1179/$1199.

Apple Watches

Alongside the new iPhone 14s, it is rumoured that a new set of Apple Watches will be revealed alongside them. Including a new Apple Watch Series 8, an Apple Watch Pro Model, and an updated version of the Apple Watch SE.

Starting with the Apple Watch Series 8. As standard, we are set to see a standard and higher-end version of the Apple Watch Series 8. The base models are rumoured to have the same model as the Series 7 models. It is rumoured that the high-end Apple Watch Series 8 models could have a flat display.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is also set to feature a new S8 chip. But according to rumours, this chip will be very similar to the S7 chip, with very limited improvements to the speed of the device. Rumoured features of the next Apple Watch are also set to include: a low-power mode, a temperature sensor, sleep apnea detection, car crash detection and an update to activity tracking.

Apple is also working on a “pro” version of the Apple Watch. It is not confirmed to be called the Apple Watch Pro currently. This watch is designed to be more suited to extreme conditions that you would encounter in more extreme sports. Featuring a larger and shatter-resistant screen, a titanium frame for improved protection and longer battery life.

As for the new version of the Apple Watch SE, there is not currently a lot known about what it may feature. But we can safely guess that a new processor is on the list.

Other Devices

Though the upcoming September Apple Event will focus on the announcement of the new iPhone and Apple Watch, there are a few devices that we could see a little further down the line. Likely in October or November. Including a cheaper iPad model, an iPad Pro featuring an M2 Apple Silicon chip and new iMacs and MacBooks.
