Quite a while ago from a blog from last year called Tech Expected To Release In 2025, we mentioned Apple's upcoming AI home display. Using Apple Intelligence, the display provided additional at-home helpful tips to make your day much simpler. As mentioned in the previous blog, the display was set to be released in March 2025... but we never heard anything. No we're officially past the original release date and no further news has been announced, what's happened to this new tech?
In this blog, we explore the Apple Home Display in further depth, explaining the reasoning for its disappearance and we discuss what the future could be for Apple AI. Let's go.

Does Apple have a smart home display?
Before we get any further into our exploration of the Smart Home Display, we need to refresh our minds on what is actually is. Apple mentioned they'd be releasing a new display called the Apple Home Display. It'd be their first Apple Intelligence-powered smart home device and the first major product to use Apple Intelligence that wasn't a standard iPad. They described it as working as an AI Wall Tablet, providing users with Siri.
Essentially, it was a 6" iPad that (by the sounds of it) could attach to the wall or some form of stand, providing users with helpful feedback and tips, much like Alexa or an in-life Siri.
Is the Apple Home Display discontinued?
But rumours have circulated that Apple has been forced to delay the plans due to delays in their Siri and Apple AI progress. This information has been floating around on multiple tech channels as well as various tech blogs, and the fact Apple have been so radio-silent on the matter we can assume the rumour is true. The news originated from Gurman, a reputable Apple news reporter, he stated that the device was expected to completely rely on AI and a smarter Siri database, but with Apple being so technologically behind with their AI they've decided to halt the tech progress to improve the quality. In our opinion, although it's a shame the home display has been paused, it's a good sign because Apple is investing in this product and want to create a state-of-the-art tech companion with no flaws. And with the cancellation of the Apple Car and the failure of the Apple Vision Pro, Apple needs to consider every move they make.
We still believe Apple Smart Home Display will go forward, however because it was rumoured that Apple patent filings refer to 'professional installers of smart home systems', meaning Apple is actively looking for professionals in the market to help distribute the devices.
What will Apple Intelligence do in the future?
Apple really needs to step up their game in terms of AI improvement and tech releases. It's clear the company are a lot more behind in terms of AI and smart home products than we realised. Especially when it's competitors are still rolling our new AI home products. Amazon has revealed Alexa+ which is the next generation of Alexa heavily incorporated with AI and Google has mentioned new AI tools will be added to Google Home.
