By now, you've probably heard the upsetting news that Grand Theft Auto 6 is no longer releasing in 2025 like initially planned but is releasing May 26th, 2026. Whilst many are looking on the bright side, saying they're happy we now have a set release date, a lot of other gamers are still disappointed that we must wait another 12 months, considering we've already been waiting 12 years! But whilst we're upset, there are still many other people who are more concerned than upset about the game's release date, and by 'other people', we mean other gaming companies.

What is the release date of GTA 6?
Now that Rockstar has moved their release date so suddenly and without any warning, many smaller gaming companies will be re-jigging their current release date to avoid clashing with GTA 6. We were told originally that the release would be in Autumn 2025, and if you look at the current September - November 2025 video game release date lists, they seem very barren. This is because no one wanted to release their games alongside Rockstar and have to deal with trying to compete with the success. Now that we know the game is releasing in May 2026, we expect to see September - November 2025 game releases fill out more, and the spring of 2026 game releases to dry out slightly. We wouldn't be surprised if it's only GTA 6 releasing in May 2026!
Whilst many companies will have peace of mind that their game release date is secure, a lot of companies will be working behind the scenes to desperately avoid the 2026 Spring release window.

Why is the GTA game famous?
So why is Grand Theft Auto so popular that it's causing other major gaming companies to completely change their planned release dates? The series has been incredibly popular since the beginning really, only getting more and more well-known as each new game releases. In our opinion, the game is so popular because of its controversial factors. There are a lot of references to violence, immorality, racial profiling and stereotyping that would usually be removed from most video games; it's basically the foundations of what makes up GTA, and it's no shock the game is rated 18+. Within this aspect, gamers can do whatever they want, there are no limits to the game, interact with anyone and visit anywhere you can imagine!
Besides the actual content of the game, the graphics are also what get people talking. With every new game release of its era, the graphics have always been the best of the best, and that's certainly still clear with GTA 6! With such large wait gaps between each game release that focus on improving the quality of the game, this only makes them more desirable to gamers.

What is expected for GTA 6?
- Characters - Whilst some characters from previous games are returning, two lead characters who players can choose to play as are male and female, Jason and Lucia.
- Location - Of course, we revisit the iconic fictionalised Miami-inspired areas of Leonida and Vice City. There's also talk that Liberty City will be in GTA 6.
- Minigames - It's not a GTA game without some small side quests, and Vice City is full of them. Pool, fishing, scuba diving, mini golf, basketball and kayaking will all be included in the game.
- Vehicles - It's in the name, Grand Theft AUTO. We can see a ranchero-like vapid, ford caracara, maibatsu penumbra, dinka boat, bravado bison four-door pickup truck, pegassi and buzzard helicopter have all been seen within the game's two trailers.
